More About KMA: Art & Museums Augsburg

Experience the Kunstsammlungen & Museen Augsburg digitally
Whether it's a magnificent Rococo city palace, an old armory, a former children's home, or a former textile factory, there's plenty to discover in our diverse museums. The Kunstsammlungen & Museen Augsburg app illuminates our exhibitions from different perspectives and guides you through Roman history, contemporary art, Baroque paintings, and Augsburg craftsmanship with objects made of bronze, gold, and silver that were coveted throughout Europe. Various tours allow you to discover the history behind our objects, decipher hidden symbolism, or get to know the artists behind the works – for adults, teenagers, and children alike!
Tours are available in German, English, Turkish, Russian, Easy Language, and Easy English. The selection of tours will be continuously expanded with new content throughout the project period until May 2027 as part of the DIWA 4.0 project. You can learn more here.
Notes: We recommend downloading the app and the tours of the museum you plan to visit in advance, as the reception in our historic buildings is not always good. To avoid disturbing other visitors, we recommend wearing headphones to listen to audio and video tracks. Alternatively, you can also use these features by holding your smartphone close to your ear— but there may be a brief delay until you can hear any sound.

Project Diversity digitally in the Museum (2024-2027)
Art can tell many stories, depending on the perspective from which you view it. Therefore, diversity is nothing new in our museums. Our works of art were created by artists from all over Europe, incorporate influences from all corners of the globe, and are made from materials that have traveled halfway around the world. Migration, cultural exchange, and diversity are therefore evident throughout our exhibitions.
The goal of the project is to make these diverse influences visible. We are working continuously on offering new tours and features in the app over the coming years, which will continually illuminate fascinating new aspects of our exhibitions and collections – for both art connoisseurs and museum newcomers.
Diversity also means that our museums should be accessible to everyone, which is why we offer digital tours in various languages. You can also look forward to new and exciting features that allow you to rediscover our artworks via AR or explore them as highlights outside of regular tours.
The project Diversity digitally in the Museum is funded by the European Union as part of the DIWA 4.0 project and is part of the Art and Culture Education Department of the Kunstsammlungen & Museen Augsburg.
